Uncertainty lingers with estate tax laws.
With the election now over, we still don’t have certainty about what will happen with the estate tax laws. Currently, the federal estate tax exemption is $5,120,000 per person or $10,240,000 for a married couple. The gifting exemption is also at this level. The gift tax exemption has never exceeded $1,000,000 prior to the last two years.
